A success story in padel sport

2006

Foundation of the SPV

In 2006, Rico Jacober and his brother Mario Jacober founded the Swiss Padel Association (SPV), based in Zurich. An undertaking with a pioneering spirit: The aim of founding the association was and is to popularize padel sports in Switzerland in 2013 after South America and Spain.

2007

Member of the Federacion Internacional de Padel (FIP)

In 2007, the association became a member of the International Padel Association.

2008

Swiss premiere

A Swiss premiere in padel with foreign professional players took place at Comexpo 08 as a show tournament in Wettingen.

The first permanent square

The first permanent padel court was set up in Schaffhausen, where the qualifying matches for the national team also took place.

Swiss World Cup delegation

In 2008, a Swiss delegation went to the World Championships in Calgary for the first time.

2010

Padel club and World Cup 2010

Founding and opening of a padel club in Unterengstringen, ZH. Among other things, this served as preparation for the World Championships in Mexico.
Switzerland competed there with one men’s and one women’s team. The men’s team came fourth at the European Championships in Valencia in the same year.

First Swiss Championship

The first Swiss championship was also held in Unterengstringen.

2013

First padel court in Singapore

First padel club in Geneva

The first padel club was opened in Geneva.

2015

European Championship in Holland

The Swiss Championships, the Masters Tournament and Interclub Championships are organized annually by Swiss Padel.

Establishment of Swiss Padel Ranking

The association organizes the Swiss Padel Tour every season and has been running the Swiss Padel Ranking since 2016.

Women's World Cup qualification

2017

Member of FEPA

Swiss Padel became a member of the Federation of European Padel in 2017

2018

Foundation of FEPA

Swiss Padel is a founding member of EPA (later FEPA), the European Padel Association.

2019

Official coach training

Since 2019 Swiss Padel has established an official coach training and has proposed several courses per year to new coaches.

2021

Bronze at the European Championships in Bilbao

2021 Swiss Padel Women National Team wins bronze medal at FEPA European Championships in Bilbao (SP).

2022

Juniors and international championships

Since 2022, Swiss Padel Juniors has sent national teams to official international championships.

First padel club in Ticino

2022 Opening of the first padel club in Ticino: Padel is everywhere in Switzerland.

2023

Veterans National Team

Since 2023, Swiss Padel has also sent Veterans National Teams to official international championships.

Spring

Spring 2023, 3 Swiss Padel teams took part in the European Games in Krakow.

Summer

Swiss Padel has reached 1000 licensed competition players.

Autumn

In fall 2023, the Swiss Padel Women Champions pair wins the silver medal at the FEPA European Champions Trophy in San Sebastian (SP).

Winter 2023 Admission process of the Swiss Padel Association at Swiss Olympic

The requirements of Swiss Olympics have been met and the Swiss Padel Association is in the process of being accepted by Swiss Olympic. (Pending decision by the sports parliament on November 22, 2024)

The growth, coverage and repru00e4sentation required to meet these extensive requirements are a testament to the drive and dedication of Claudia Bru00e4hm (President of the Swiss Padel Association (SUIPA) 2016-2024).

More than 200 official Swiss Padel tournaments were played in 2023.

2024

Almost 100 teams from all over Switzerland

Over 80 teams take part in the Interclub Championship.

400 tournaments in 2024

400 tournaments were held in 2024, compared to 200 tournaments in 2023. In addition, the association recorded a 47% increase in newly licensed members between January and June 2024.

2025

Yakin Arena the new performance center

The Yakin Arena is the new performance center of the Swiss national team and offers optimal training facilities.

Training camp Malaga

In May, our Swiss national team received a professionally run training camp from Swiss Padel in Malaga.

FIP Euro Padel Cup Madrid

In July, our national team proved itself on the European stage.

Swiss Championships 2025

In September, Juniors, Veterans and an open category competed for the title of Swiss Champion. Swiss Padel is proud to crown the new champions with our partner Certina.

FIP Junior World Cup Reus

At the end of September, our Swiss Juniors team competed on the international stage and showed what team spirit means.

FIP and OCA

The International Padel Federation (FIP) has been officially recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and padel will be included as an official sport in the program of the upcoming editions of the Asian Games.

FIP and AIMS

The International Padel Federation (FIP) is in the final phase of its admission to AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sport) – a necessary step on the way to Olympic recognition of padel.
