Padel is played in around 130 countries today. There are over 60,000 pedal courts and over 30,000,000 players worldwide, and the number is growing every day!
The sport of padel originated in Acapulco, Mexico, in 1965, when the Mexican Don Enrique Corcuera decided to play tennis on a small court in his residence. As there was not enough space and it was also bordered by walls on some sides, instead of a tennis court it was turned into a playing field of smaller dimensions, completely surrounded by a combination of concrete and metal netting to prevent the balls from flying out of the court. Today, the sport is mainly played in South America and Spain, with 2-4 countries being added every year.
